Arma 3 - Mission Night - Saturday October 26th, 7pm GMT

Postby CaptainCardiff » October 21st, 2013, 3:21 pm

Howdy y'all. Title says it all. We can't use mods, but we can use what we've got, as I've been told, and I'm finally agreeing. The least I can do is show you guys what a real mission is. We can work around some multiplayer flaws, like the dead players moving into a second channel so they don't give it away to the living, but we can still do a mission all the same.\n\nI'll either download one, preferably make one, and see where it goes. I'll make it for 20 people, two fire teams and one command team, and can reduce or enlarge the squads as necessary. Sign your name, let me know what role you'd enjoy, and if you fancy a night of hardcore Arma 3 missions! (I won't slot myself, so unsure if I'll take top command. Don't ask for command, but say you're willing, and we might take it in turns on the night.)\n\nNote; the spots will change between missions. The chance to swap with someone, and shuffling of members between squads so you don't hunker down with the same 7 people every mission. Preplanning slots will just make it simpler to get started. As mentioned below, not bringing specialist roles like Snipers. Not now, at least. Pick from the list below.\n\nCommand\nOperational Command - Slot Open\nGPMG - CaptainCardiff\n\nAlpha\nTeam Leader - Eugenios\nMachinegunner - Spankshot\nAssisting Gunner - Syphix\nGrenadier - Digidisease\nDemolitions - Desember\nRifleman - Kheebab\nRifleman - Pharax\nMedic - ArgaMyggan\n\nBravo\nTeam Leader - Eikel/Ido\nMachinegunner - Speermanneke\nAssisting Gunner - FatSheriff\nGrenadier - MagicMushroom\nDemolitions - Louix858\nRifleman - Powerpuffters\nRifleman - Athell\nMedic - TimeBombTom\n\nRoles explained;\nCommand - Gives all major orders, direct GPMG gunner\nGPMG (General purpose machinegun) - Larger MG than carried by squads. Used to provide heavy assisting fire for squads in hard firefights. Directed by the Command leader or attached to squads providing suppressing fire. (Examples, M240)\nTeam Leader - Leads a fireteam, expected to fight frontline with them\nMachinegunner - Squadbased machinegun, used to provide suppressing fire. (Examples, M249 SAW, L86SW)\nAssisting Gunner - Rifleman, carries spare ammo boxes for the gunner (Ammo's heavy, yo) and helps spot targets and direct fire, protecting him close range where the MG can't work effectively. They work as a tight team, don't underestimate it.\nGrenadier - Carries extra grenades and explosives, and runs with an underbarrel grenade launcher. Expected to lay smoke shields, suppressive grenade spam and long range rifle-fire.\nDemolitions - Carries a rocket and other explosives. Designed to deal with armoured threats. (Examples, AT4, SMAW.)\nRifleman - Meatshield. Expect to die.\nMedic - Expect everyone else to die. Use smoke. Everywhere. All the time.\n\nMissions\nThe missions will be simple, but standard. What I mean by that is, at least on our first outing, we'll be avoiding night fights and intense urban warfare, as well as heavy armour like tanks and gunship helicopters. This is simple to keep the first time simple and flowing. If this kicks off, expect air support and tank missions in the future.\n\nI will either find or make three missions, briefs below;\n- Morning infiltration of op-for held town. Reports of SAM system in vicinity, destroy to allow for air superiority. Infiltration will be sea based.\n- Late evening defence of a base. You've been left with minimal arms to defend a critical location against an attacking BLUFOR force. Hold out as long as you can.\n- Afternoon stroll through the Altis countryside via armoured transport. Reports of friendly convoy ambushed, lost all contact. Find, recover and rescue if possible.\nhttp://imgur.com/a/EdZnR

I'm in. Any role, leading or not doesn't matter in the least. I enjoy scout/sniper two man gameplay but then who doesn't :-)\n\nSkickat från min LT26w med Tapatalk 4

Yeah. Might be another mission. 1/2 sniper teams observing and marking targets while a six man spec-ops team infiltrates an area for some sort of retrieval. Maybe a mortar/airborne fireteam on standby for when **** inevitably hits the fan.\nSome cqb elements for the six man team and some sniping/fireteam action during the extraction. As a diversion or in plain desperation...\n\nSkickat från min LT26w med Tapatalk 4

Aye, I'm just going to focus on some basic infantry play to begin with though. I'm not throwing new-missioners into an urban environment with IRNV their first time out. It's just gonna end in a slaughter. Which is fun, but might dishearten those new to the experience.\n\nI was personally thinking a spec ops infiltration unit early morning, via sea, into a town to disarm a bomb. Also, a defence mission (Usually ends in death, but its thrilling) of a key location (Say the observatory on Stratis). And maybe an armoured column mission across the planes of Altis. Let's us get some armoured support involved across wide open plains. I'm talking APCs, btw, not Merkavas.

No pilots? Cos I would happily take a pilot position. Even if just transport. \n\nFailing that I'll be spanks assisting gunner. His ammo mule lol\n\nSent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk

Of the four people who've asked to join, two wanted roles not on the list. Come on guys, I've literally put a list. :P\n\nNo pilots, drivers, snipers. Not this time around. This is the first time 95% of you will be doing missions. I'm not bringing combined assets. This is feet on the ground in close knit squads. Trust me when I say this; combined assets actually kind of suck. You can't beat the feel of being on the ground with your buddies. Being in a tank is okay, and sometimes being in a Cobra is okay, but it gets very repetitive and boring. Ground combat with a rifle in your hand is the best thing ever.\n\nPlease, stick to the list I've provided, and pick a primary role you'd like, plus anything else you might take. That way I can slot people in advance.
